IT IS A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL
Picture above is of me, Jesus Chairez & Judith Torrea at Chapultepec CastleMy sisters, and a friend of hers, have been visiting me here in México City. On Sunday, July 27, 2008, we went to see the Chapultepec Castle at Chapultepec Park. We entered the main gate with the numerous people and proceeded to walk into the castle. I was stopped at the door because the security guard told me I could not enter with my backpack. I told my sister to enter and proceed, that I would be right back. The guard had instructed me where to go but I was not too clear. I got lost finding the bag check. I went back to the main gate and asked the people working at the door where I might leave my backpack. I had no more gotten the words out when this lady screams JESÚS. I turned around to see that is was my friend Judith Torrea a journalist.
The weird part is this: I met Judith in Austin, Texas. She later moved to Dallas and worked for Al Dia, Dallas’ first and only Spanish language daily. Then Judith moved to New York City where she is presently working. We had sort of lost touch with her too. Well I had just talked about Judith this morning AND there she was! She told me she left New York to work in Mexico City for a couple of days and had failed to take my contact information with her and there I was.
We spent some time together and caught up on our lives. Me now retired and living in México City and she now working for People en Español in NY. Small world!!
