I read in the newspaper, The News, about an art exhibition honoring Leon Trotsky

Sixty-eight years after a Stalinist assassin killed him, several artists have paid tribute with their art to Trotsky a Russian revolutionary. The title of the exhibit is entitled “The Faces of Liberty,” and the exhibit contains 13 paintings in different techniques.

The exhibit is in the main entrance but I waited to see the show because I first had to see how and where the friend of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahol, Leon Trotsky, lived. Trotsky’s courtyard is big and beautiful and sticking out in stateliness is the memorial to Trotsky where his ashes rest. You have to wonder about this man life upon seeing the guards’ house where his many guards lived. Trotsy needed more than just a security alarm for his place. Too the way he lived was not so elaborate, small non-pretentious household items. What I noticed about entering Trotsky’s actual home is how dark it is. This is because lots of windows where bricked closed and the doorways had with 2” steel doors for protection. But in the end, all his security and protection didn’t help. The lone assassin stuck an ice pick in Trotsky’s head – OUCH.

The exhibit is worth taking the time to venture out to Coyoacan. Once there walk a few blocks to Frida’s house.
