SHOPPING IN THE CENTRO HISTORICO – MEXICO CITY
Today after having coffee and reading the newspaper at a sidewalk café in La Zona Rosa, I went running around Mexico City as usual. But this time I went shopping because I wanted to start buying things prior to my return to Dallas Texas on the 19th of September to pick up my car and some other things I left behind. Too, I am going to visit friends, AND anyway …
I went shopping in the Centro Historico and I saw this headgear that I thought would be marvelous to wear for the September 16 (Diez y Seis de Septiembre), Mexican Independence Day celebrations here in D.F. Well, really to wear it the night before on the 15th of September at 11:00 PM for the El GRITO at the Zocal. If you are wondering where to get pick up this wonder ensemble, take the Metro to the Hidalgo station near Alameda Park on Paseo de la Reforma. I just love the petite tiara too.
I ran across these blind musicians called Grupo Interrogacion. I was told they play at Motolinia & Tacuba streets near the Allende Metro station almost everyday.
I do admire these musicians not only because they play very well but these guys cannot even see and they get around in the largest city in world. Here I have both my eyes and my sight is pretty good and I can lost here in D.F. sometime afraid to venture into areas unknown – they’re – amazing. I stayed awhile listening to the music and bought one of their CD’s great stuff.
Then I walked over to see some magnificent sculptor by Mexican artist Ángela Gurría. The exhibit is titled Yo Soy Mi Obra – I am My Work and is located in the atrium of the San Francisco Church on Madero 7, across from the Latin American Tower. To read a review of the exhibit go to Mexico’s only English daily newspaper The News.
