GOOD FRIDAY 2009: WATER SHORTAGE AND EL SENOR DEL REBOZO

2009 April 11
by Jesus

Woke up Good Friday morning, April 10, 2009, feeling great. But too I wondered if I would have water for a morning shower since the Mexico City government was shutting off the water off for 36 hours due to a “water shortage” and conservation efforts.

Then, like every morning, I looked out my window – this time in amazement: With all the talk of there being a water shortage here in Mexico City I look out my window to see a city crew cleaning the sidewalks of the park across the street, Alameda Santa Maria la Ribera, not with brooms but WATER! The Mexico City government at work using precious water to hose down and clean sidewalks. This is insane, but this is Mexico.
Well I got of the house and wondered around Centro Historico with my neighbor Mely. Our first stop after breakfast was the church Temple Santo Domingo Guzmán in Centro Historico and there was a Señor del Rebozo! A God of the Shaw; to me this is amazing and wondered how this worked. Apparently this religious statue does perform miracles from viewing all the Rebozo’s laid at the altar. There is even a SPECIAL mass every 1st Friday of every month at 1:00 PM. I just don’t get it.

LOL. I got an e-mail from a reader that said that this Senor del Rebozo was so GAY. Lord of the Rebozo a shaw, why not. Love it.
