SWINE FLU PREVENTION IN MÉXICO CITY IS NOW OFFICALLY BORING
Well here we are May Day 2009 and life here in México City is getting a little BORING. Was staying close to home today, but a friend of mine wanted to chat so we sat along el Paseo de la Reforma in La Zona Rosa because everything is closed. Well the places that are open, like restaurants and cafes only have take out.
StarBucks was closed for a few days but they opened – somewhat. In La Zona Rosa they will only let a couple of people into the store at a time so you will have limited contact with each other at the counter. HELLO, there is a line of people standing close to each other waiting to get into StarBucks, soooo, let us all in anyway. No tables or chairs available for sitting. You take you drink and leave.
After I finished talking with my friend, I took a stroll into deepest La Rosa and it was like a ghost town. Everything was closed at the time that I went and that was like 8:30 PM. People, mostly young teens and 20 something’s, were walking around looking for something to do.
Well, Wal-Mart is open and it is PACKED with bumper-to-Bumper shopping carts. People have to go to supermarkets because you can’t go out to eat. Which is why I was in Wal-Mart buying food so I could eat at home.
Here are a couple of pictures of my trip to Wal-Mart today. Can you believe I am taking pictures of the express lane, the lane that I used. I remember when I lived in Dallas how I would die if there were 7 people in line ahead of me and then I moved here. I will never complain when I visit a Dallas Wal-Mart or supermarket again.
Red arrow points to where I need to get in line!

Jesus,
I love the title to your blog post!
Too funny!
Thanks but true.
Crazy, never seen lines that long at Walmart in AZ
I’m impressed with your photography work. We tried to take pics inside a pharmacy and they practically chased us out with a rife.
Dean: Me neither. I clutched my pearls when I walked in to Wal-Mex: but this is Mexico City.
Chilangabacha: I use a NIKON SLR but for the Wal-Mart shots I used a Sony 12 pix camera and was quick about it.
Too I look very Mexican, though I am 2nd generation Mex – Amer so I look the part. So like a chameleon I blend in.
